Introduction<\/h4>\n

The Doctoral Programme in Classical Archaeology offers wide-ranging instruction in the Mediterranean cultures from protohistory to late antiquity. It is taught by a team of professors and researchers involved in the research activities of each of the participating institutions (URV, ICAC and UAB) and imparts a wide range of theoretical and practical abilities unique to Catalan university education.<\/p>\n

The teams and the lines of research are diverse in terms of their interdisciplinarity and transversality. This can be seen in the eight research teams<\/a> that make up the MIRMED (2014SGR 1197) consolidated research group coordinated by the ICAC, which is the scientific basis of the doctorate programme.<\/p>\n

The programme places specialist laboratories at the disposal of the students and also offers the possibility of working at some of the main archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. Its objective is to train new generations of researchers able to associate education in the humanities with in-depth experience in classical archaeology, heritage analysis and research specialisation.<\/p>\n

ICAC researchers, in addition to supervising theses as part of the doctorate as mentioned above programmes, also direct the theses of other doctorate programmes outside the Institute.<\/p>\n

The URV, the ICAC and the UAB launched this doctoral programme in the 2013-2014 academic year, coordinated by the URV, as established in RD 99\/2011, through URV Doctoral School, which coordinates all the doctoral programmes in which ICAC participates, as established in RD 56\/2005, RD1393\/2007 and RD 778\/1998.<\/p>\n
