Prologue in Italian). The book is the second volume in the Serie <em>Studia Archaeologica<\/em>\u00a0of the collection\u00a0<strong>Forma Conventus Tarraconensis<\/strong>, edited by Institut d&#8217;Estudis Catalans in coedition with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the ICAC.<\/p>\n<p>The monography has been carried out within the activity of the Archaeological Research Group UAB-ICAC: Archaeology of the City and Landscape. It has received fundings from the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Government of Spain (project HAR 2009-10752), and from the Department of Economy and Knowledge, Government of Catalonia (2009 SGR 1163).<\/p>\n<p>The work is one of the outputs of the <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/actualitat\/noticies\/2012\/cum-laude-per-la-tesi-de-nuria-romani\/\" target=\"_blank\">doctoral thesis<\/a> of the researcher\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/who-are-we\/staff\/nromani\/\" target=\"_blank\">N\u00faria Roman\u00ed<\/a>, who made her defence at the ICAC in 2012, with a <em>cum laude<\/em>\u00a0qualification.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>El volumen plantea un <strong>estudio profundo sobre las v\u00edas urbanas romanas dentro de la \u00e1rea que engloba desde la antigua <em>Emporiae<\/em> hasta <em>Valentia<\/em><\/strong>. Recoge y contrasta datos en un cat\u00e1logo descriptivo de cada una de las ciudades investigadas. La primera parte hace referencia a la evoluci\u00f3n urban\u00edstica y a las t\u00e9cnicas constructivas. La segunda parte, presentada en formato DC-ROM, trata de vestigios arqueol\u00f3gicos de la red viaria. El estudio demuestra c\u00f3mo una aproximaci\u00f3n arqueol\u00f3gica precisa a las calles de la ciudad antigua puede enriquecer enormemente su conocimiento, ya que en definitiva, son una parte esencial e indisociable de la <em>urbs<\/em>: sus ejes de comunicaci\u00f3n interna y uno de los grandes escenarios de su vida p\u00fablica.<\/p>\n<p>The volume proposes an <strong>in-depth study of Roman urban roads within the area that encompasses everything from the old <em>Emporiae<\/em> to <em>Valentia<\/em><\/strong>. It collects and contrasts data in a descriptive catalogue of each of the cities surveyed. The first part refers to the urban development and construction techniques. The second part, presented in a CD-ROM, deals with archaeological vestiges of the road network.
