The study data collected numerous testimonies, especially in Spain, but also in Catalonia. In this way, it opened a can of warms, silenced for too long, and gave more visibility to a problem that seriously affects women, especially young people, in the training and early stages of their research careers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A year before, the media also echoed reports of sexual abuse suffered by students in archaeological excavations at a Spanish university. University archaeology was no longer as calm as oil in a plate, as so many people had taken for granted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"destacat-entrevista dreta\">\n<div class=\"small-text\">\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-parastyle=\"paragraph\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/G013.5_Protocol-against-Sexual-Harassment_ICAC.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Protocol of the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology for preventing, identifying and taking action to combat sexual<br \/>\nharassment <\/a>and harassment based on\u00a0sex, gender identity, and\/or sexual\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-parastyle=\"paragraph\">orientation that we present is born from the awareness of this true social scourge, which is gradually becoming more visible, also in the field of research.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The action is part of <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/es\/quienes-somos\/excelencia-en-rh\/hr-excellence-in-research\/\" target=\"_blank\">the <strong>HRS4R strategy<\/strong> of the ICAC<\/a> (see here the <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/G013.3_HRS4R_Action-Plan-2021-2023_ICAC.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Action Plan 2021-2023<\/a>) and responds to the ICAC willingness to <strong>guarantee gender equality and fight against violence and discrimination<\/strong> in the academic and labor spheres; an action also aligned with the <a href=\"https:\/\/gender.cerca.cat\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Women and Science program<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cerca.cat\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">CERCA Institution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5><span ICAC<\/strong> and among the members belonging to the academic and labor community of the Institute, or on the occasion of interpersonal relationships that may be established with it, to act to eradicate them and sanction them, in addition to protecting and accompanying people who have seen their rights violated.<\/p>\n<div class=\"highlight-block\">\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-parastyle=\"paragraph\">With this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/G013.5_20200611_ProtocolAssetjamentSexual-ICAC.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Protocol<\/a>, the Catalan\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-parastyle=\"paragraph\">Institute of Classical Archaeology states its <strong>zero-tolerance policy<\/strong> for<\/span><\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"><span data-ccp-parastyle=\"paragraph\">\u00a0sexual harassment, and harassment based on sex, gender identity and sexual orientation, for which it undertakes to:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Formally declare and disseminate its <strong>rejection of all types of sexual harassment<\/strong> or harassment based on sex, gender identity and sexual orientation, in all its forms or manifestations.<\/li>\n<li>Promote a <strong>culture of prevention<\/strong> against sexual harassment or harassment based on sex, gender identity and sexual orientation through training, information, and awareness-raising activities for the entire ICAC community.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Report<\/strong>, investigate and sanction any conduct that may constitute sexual harassment or harassment based on sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Give support and advise<\/strong> people who have been subjected to sexual harassment or
