{"id":91419,"date":"2024-02-15T14:29:34","date_gmt":"2024-02-15T13:29:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icac.cat\/?p=91419"},"modified":"2024-02-16T12:18:51","modified_gmt":"2024-02-16T11:18:51","slug":"new-cultivations-giap-greece","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/actualitat\/noticies\/2024\/new-cultivations-giap-greece\/","title":{"rendered":"New season of experimental cultivation in Greece!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>The Archeobotany team of the GIAP, led by researcher <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/who-are-we\/staff\/alivarda\/\">Alexandra Livarda<\/a>, has started a new phase of experimental cereal cultivation in Greece!<\/h6>\n<p>The new experimental crop is located in Thermi, near Thessaloniki (Greece), at the facilities of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ipgrb.gr\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hellenic Agricultural Organization -DEMETER<\/a>, and follows the experimental research line developed in previous projects. It is part of the new <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/es\/recerca\/projectes-de-recerca\/projecte\/darkaegean-pid2022-139907nb-100\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">R&amp;D project DarkAegean<\/a>, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/who-are-we\/staff\/alivarda\/\">Livarda<\/a> in collaboration with agronomers Dr. Ioannis Mylonas (<a href=\"https:\/\/ipgrb.gr\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources, IPBGR<\/a>) and Elisa Ninou (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ihu.gr\/ucips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Hellenic University<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"destacat-entrevista dreta\">\n<div class=\"small-text\">\n<p>This new season of cultivation is experimenting with wheat, and in particular with free-thresing wheat.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In December 2023 the team successfully sowed 7 landraces of bread and 7 landraces of macaroni wheat from across the Aegean, as well as a commercial wheat cultivar for control.
