The travelling exhibition “Arqueosexisme” has completed its tour after visiting six of the URV’s CRAIs, with excellent visitor numbers.<\/h6>\n

In December 2023, we launched the traveling exhibition “Arqueosexisme” with an inauguration event at the CRAI Campus Catalunya of the URV in Tarragona, featuring the participation of the director of ICAC-CERCA, Josep Maria Palet<\/a>, and representatives from the Equality Unit<\/a>, the CRAI<\/a>, and the Department of History<\/a> of the URV, collaborators on the project.<\/p>\n

The exhibition “Arqueosexisme” has been displayed in six CRAIs of the URV over 88 days and has received more than 67,000 visitors.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

After being displayed at the CRAI Campus Catalunya (from December 5, 2023, to January 15, 2024), the “Arqueosexisme” exhibition visited CRAI Campus Sescelades (from January 29 to February 8), CRAI Campus Terres de l’Ebre (from February 15 to February 29), CRAI Campus Medicine (from March 11 to March 21), CRAI Campus Bellisens (from April 8 to April 18), and CRAI Campus Baix Pened\u00e8s (from May 20 to May 30).<\/p>\n

The initiative’s results have been very satisfactory, exceeding the organization’s expectations, led by the ICAC-CERCA Equality Committee<\/a><\/strong> (including Lydia Gil, L\u00eddia Colominas, and Alfredo Mayoral). With an average of 3,864 visits per day, the exhibition has received a total of 67,031 visitors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

After the tour through the CRAIs of the URV, the “Arqueosexisme” exhibition will start moving around the country. The first stop will be the University of Lleida, and later, it will be displayed at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The \u2018Archaeosexism\u2019 exhibition promotes gender equality in the field of research while fostering scientific culture<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The exhibition features panels combining texts (translated into Catalan) and illustrations by different artists to showcase real testimonies from archaeologists who share their experiences and perspectives on the issue of sexism in archaeology, especially in the field.<\/p>\n

The original exhibition, created in France by Associaci\u00f3 Arch\u00e9o-\u00c9thique<\/a> and the project Paye ta Truelle<\/a>, premiered at the Maison de l\u2019Arch\u00e9ologie et de l\u2019Ethnologie<\/a> (Nanterre, France) in 2019. Since then, it has traveled to various institutions in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and the United States. Now, thanks to the collaboration between ICAC-CERCA and the URV (through the Equality Unit, CRAI, and the Department of History and Art History), it has been exhibited in Catalonia for the first time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
