{"id":93848,"date":"2024-06-18T12:49:51","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T10:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icac.cat\/?p=93848"},"modified":"2024-06-18T18:09:07","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T16:09:07","slug":"medol-altafulla-radio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/actualitat\/noticies\/2024\/medol-altafulla-radio\/","title":{"rendered":"Discover the history of the El M\u00e8dol quarry with Altafulla Radio"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Discover the history of the El M\u00e8dol quarry with the podcast from the <em>L\u2019Hora Local<\/em> program on Altafulla Radio.<\/h6>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/who-are-we\/staff\/jlopez\/\">Jordi L\u00f3pez Vilar<\/a> (MIRMED) and <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/who-are-we\/staff\/agutierrez\/\">Anna Guti\u00e9rrez Garcia-Moreno<\/a> (ArPA-LIRA, UEA) had the opportunity to visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/enacast.com\/altafullaradio\/programs\/lhoralocal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>L\u2019Hora Local<\/em><\/a> program on the local station <a href=\"https:\/\/altafullaradio.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Altafulla R\u00e0dio<\/strong><\/a>, hosted by journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/eduvirgili\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eduard Virgili<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During their participation, ICAC researchers featured a new paper titled <strong>&#8220;El M\u00e8dol, from Emblematic Place to Key Archaeological Site&#8221;<\/strong>, published in the latest issue of the journal <em>Estudis Altafullencs<\/em> edited by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cestudisaltafulla.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centre d\u2019Estudis d\u2019Altafulla<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In this edition of the &#8220;El centre en antena&#8221; section, <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/who-are-we\/staff\/jlopez\/\">Jordi L\u00f3pez<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/who-are-we\/staff\/agutierrez\/\">Anna Guti\u00e9rrez<\/a> offer a detailed perspective on the archaeological significance of the El M\u00e8dol quarry, one of the most significant during the Roman era. This quarry, with an approximate area of 80,000 square meters, stands out not only for its scenic beauty but also for its crucial role in the construction of the Roman city of <em>Tarraco<\/em> and the monuments of the province of <em>Tarraconensis<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"destacat-entrevista dreta\">\n<div class=\"small-text\">\n<p>Discover how the El M\u00e8dol quarry has contributed to the architectural grandeur of Tarragona, the capital of the province of <em>Tarraconensis<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Over the past 20 years, numerous investigations have been carried out at this site, revealing important data about the life and economic and social activities around Roman Tarragona.
