{"id":97336,"date":"2025-01-08T10:00:33","date_gmt":"2025-01-08T09:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/icac.cat\/?p=97336"},"modified":"2025-01-16T17:28:04","modified_gmt":"2025-01-16T16:28:04","slug":"visiting-rome-mirmed-late-antiquity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/icac.cat\/en\/actualitat\/noticies\/2025\/visiting-rome-mirmed-late-antiquity\/","title":{"rendered":"Research visiting in Rome to study Hispanic liturgical spaces in Late Antiquity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Between September and December 2024, predoctoral researcher <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/qui-som\/personal\/amunozv\/\"><strong>Andreu Mu\u00f1oz Virgili<\/strong><\/a> carried out a research stay at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.piac.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology (PIAC)<\/a> in Rome, under the supervision of Professor Chiara Cecalupo.<\/p>\n<p>This experience was made possible thanks to the mobility grants from the Ministry of Universities, within the FPU program, which funds his doctoral thesis project: <em>Articulaci\u00f3n y proyecci\u00f3n del espacio lit\u00fargico hispano: el culto cristiano y sus escenarios f\u00edsicos durante la Antig\u00fcedad Tard\u00eda.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>During his time at the PIAC, <a href=\"https:\/\/icac.cat\/qui-som\/personal\/amunozv\/\">Mu\u00f1oz<\/a> gained access to various bibliographic, documentary, and archaeological sources that enriched his research. These sources let him contextualize his study subject from a global perspective, providing tools to deepen the analysis of architecture and liturgical spaces in late antique Hispania.<\/p>\n<div class=\"destacat-entrevista dreta\">\n<div class=\"small-text\">\n<p>The combination of research and training has been key to obtaining a comprehensive view of the <em>Orbis Christianus Antiquus<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition to the research activities, the stay included spaces dedicated to training. Mu\u00f1oz supplemented his consultation of the extensive bibliographic resources at the PIAC by attending several academic sessions related to the themes of his thesis, delivered by some of the leading experts in the field.<\/p>\n<p>One of the highlights of the stay was <strong>direct engagement with the archaeological heritage and Christian topography of late antique and early medieval Rome<\/strong>. In this context, Mu\u00f1oz visited iconic museums and sites and documented unique elements that will be key for comparing them with Hispanic places of worship.\u00a0Rome\u2019s cultural infrastructure, including institutions such as the Spanish Institute of Ecclesiastical History, provided access to exclusive resources and offered crucial support for his research.<\/p>\n<p>At ICAC, we extend our gratitude to the academic community at PIAC for their warm welcome and collaboration, along with the Spanish Institute of Ecclesiastical History for granting access to its valuable documentary resources.
