The plenary session of the Conca de Barberà County Council (CCCB) unanimously approved, on June 27, the proposal for a collaboration framework agreement between the Catalan Institute of Classical Archeology (ICAC) and the CCCB.
The framework agreement stems from the common goals, between the two entities, regarding the investigation, preservation, and dissemination of the classical period archaeological heritage in the Conca de Barberà region (Tarragona).
The specific purposes of this agreement are (1) cooperation in scientific, technical, educational, and cultural nature activities in the field of Classical Archaeology; (2) collaboration in research programs and projects; (3) collaboration in dissemination programs and projects; (4) collaboration in advanced training programs and courses; and (5) exchange of information on research topics, books, publications, and other materials of common interest. For that purpose, the needed mechanisms will be enabled to allow access to libraries and the services offered.
The approval of this agreement leads to a creation of a coordination committee, made up of the director of the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology, Josep Maria Palet; the administrator of the ICAC, Jordi Peiret; an ICAC researcher (based on the nature of the specific projects or initiatives); the president of the County Council of Conca de Barberà; the County Councilor for Culture; and the Head of the Culture Department of the Conca de Barberà County Council, or their delegates. This commission will be constituted within a period of ninety days from the approval of the framework agreement in the plenary session of the Conca de Barberà County Council.
The commission, among other functions, will ensure the follow-up of the framework agreement; it will propose and promote the specific agreements, and the subsequent follow-up; and approve and coordinate specific activities. The commission, once established, will decide on its meeting regime and the valid adoption of agreements.
