The Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology (ICAC) has been selected by the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT) to receive funding under the knowledge transfer project call.
The project will focus on social, educational, and heritage mediation in the high mountain cultural landscape: the Núria and Coma de Vaca valleys, in the heart of the Eastern Pyrenees.
This initiative continues a well-established research line at ICAC for over a decade, led by the Landscape Archaeology Research Group (GIAP).
Its main goal is to bring the results of archaeological research in this unique environment closer to the public, fostering recognition of its heritage, historical, and cultural value.
ArqueoPirenaia II will promote the mediation and dissemination of archaeological heritage through educational activities, participatory actions, and teaching resources tailored to diverse audiences. The project aims to empower local communities and promote territorial sustainability through knowledge of the cultural landscape, which preserves traces of human occupation from the Neolithic to contemporary times.
With this new project, ICAC reaffirms its commitment to scientific knowledge transfer and the enhancement of archaeological heritage as a tool for social and territorial transformation.
The project has received support from Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología – Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades
