The Board of Directors of ICAC-CERCA decided, in the last meeting on December 22, 2023, to renew the mandate of the current director of the Institute, Josep Maria Palet.
Dr. Josep Maria Palet, the current director of ICAC-CERCA and co-director of the GIAP research group, has renewed his mandate as the director of the center for the period 2024-2027, being appointed by the Board of Directors in the last December 2023 meeting.
Palet was appointed as the director of the Institute in December 2019, as a result of an international selection process managed by the CERCA Institution. Palet is the fourth director of the Institute and succeeded Joan Gómez Pallarès, the current General Director of Research at the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Josep Maria Palet‘s leadership project for the 2020-2023 period has been notable for the successes achieved in the internationalization of the center, the consolidation of research groups, the promotion of the research career, and the growth of the center in terms of projects, research staff, resource acquisition, laboratories, and impact.
It is also worth noting the development of internal improvement processes related to the HRS4R strategy, such as the implementation in 2020 of a protocol for the prevention and action in the field of gender-based violence, with the participation and collaboration of the Equality Committee of the Institute.
The new mandate will continue to focus on securing resources from competitive international calls and will strongly promote knowledge transfer and the social impact of research. This includes ambitious international projects such as the European project CulturMonts, led by Josep Maria Palet and scheduled for the period 2024-2026.
