The Catalan Institute of Classical Archeology, in order to improve the fulfilment of its objectives, decides to assume a set of values, principles and norms that must inspire the conduct of the members of the institution.
The Code of Ethics is a reference for the entire community and its obligation is established on the basis of the moral reasons that justify it. Its strength lies exclusively in the commitment made by all the members of the community to respect a set of common values and principles.
In this sense, the Code of Ethics is not a legal norm, but rather a series of norms of behaviour of the people within the research institution and of all the fields involved, who acquire the commitment to make it known and applied.
ICAC Code of Ethics (in Catalan)
Aiming to monitor and evaluate the ICAC Code of Ethics, in 2017 an Ethics Committee was set up. It is made up of three members of the Institute, chosen from a consensus proposal between the management of the centre and the representatives of the workers. These members are representative of the three activity areas in which the Institute is organized (research, scientific-technical services and management and research support).
The ICAC Ethics Committee members are:
- Gilbert Frigola Olives (representative of the management and research support area)
- Anna Gutiérrez Garcia-Moreno (representative of the scientific-technical services)
- Alexandra Livarda (representative of the research staff).
The Committee has enabled a contact email address: comite.etica@icac.cat.
