All set for the 28th EAA Annual Meeting this week, with a large participation of ICAC researchers

Several ICAC researchers are participating in the 28th EAA Annual Meeting, which will be held from August 31 to September 3, 2022, in Budapest (Hungary).

GIAP researcher Alfredo Mayoral is one of the organizers of Session 230. Sediment and Soil Archives to Decipher Human-Environment Interactions in Wetland Landscapes from Neolithic to the XXth Century, along with André-Marie Dendievel (Univ. Lyon, Univ. Claude Bernard Lyon 1, ENTPE, CNRS, UMR 5023 LEHNA).

This session will take place on Thursday, September 1st, from 14 h to 18:30 h. It is related to Theme 5, “Climate Change and Socioenvironmental Perspectives”, being a session with a keynote presentation and discussion.

In this same session Mayoral will hold a communication, with the participation of other GIAP researchers:

(17:15 h) “A geoarchaeological tale of two cities: Palaeogeography, socio-environmental interaction and coastal landscape evolution around Ancient Abdera (Thrace, Greece)”. More communications

GIAP researchers will hold a communication on Thursday, September 1st, in Session 347. Natural Resources of Highlands and Hinterlands in the Mediterranean.

(16:45 h). “Tracing Neolithic and Medieval Livestock Farming in the Eastern Pyrenees: the combined archaeological and palaeoenvironmental study of Molleres II (Puigpedrós Massif)”. Arnau Carbonell (GIAP, ICAC), Lídia Colominas, (GIAP, ICAC), Valentina Pescini (GIAP, ICAC), Alfredo Mayoral (GIAP, ICAC), Natalia Egüez (AMBI Research Lab, Universidad de La Laguna), Abel Gallego-Valle (GIAP, ICAC), Jesús Martínez (GIAP, ICAC), Josep Maria Palet (GIAP, ICAC).

 

Besides, ICREA researcher Maria Carme Belarte and other members of the TRANSCOMB project will hold a communication on Saturday, September 3rd, in Session 345. Let it burn! Experimental and Ethnoarchaeological Approaches in Pyroarchaeology.

(11:30 h). “From fuel to embers: experimenting on Iron Age combustion structures in the Western Mediterranean”. Maria Carme Belarte (ICREA-ICAC), Marta Portillo (Institució Milà i Fontanals – CSIC), Marta Mateu (ICAC), Carme Saorin (GRAP, UB), María Pastor (ICAC), Josep Pou (Ajuntament de Calafell), Jordi Morer (GRACPE, UB), Georgina Castells (Ajuntament de Calafell), Sílvia Vila (Univ. de Lleida), Valentina Pescini (ICAC).

 

Finally, Juan de la Cierva researcher Marta Blasco will hold a communication on Friday, September 2nd, in Session 236. Craft specialization in worked hard osseus materials: conversations on a complex conceptual category in Archaeology.
