The ICAC-CERCA’s Documentation Centre, Library and Open Science has a collection integrated by monographies, journals, audiovisual materials and databases.
Nowadays, its collection has more than 128,000 items and are divided into four large areas:
- Bibliographic (20%)
- Historical legacies – iconographic material (53%)
- Historical legacies – textual material (26%)
- Administrative archive (4%)
This collection include five singular legacies: the Dr Pere de Palol (†) bequest, the personal archive’s Dr Jordi López Vilar, Dr Antonio Peña Jurado (†) library, Dr Simon Keay (†) library and the Dr Gustav A. Gamer library and photographic bequest.
On the other hand, this department is in charge of promoting the Institute’s open science strategy.
Objectives
- To manage open science infrastructures: Research Portal of Catalonia, Repository of Research Data, Recercat and eiNa DMP.
- To develop and implement the open science strategy.
- To give support the publication and dissemination of research and software data FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable).
- To promote open access in scientific production.
- To be a point of reference for researchers in the development of their research activity.
- To manage and maintain the Institute’s internal documental archive.
- To hold the scientific information generated by the researchers.
- To safeguard the bibliographic legacies.
- To cooperate with the libraries of other institutions specialising in archaeology and to establish bibliographic exchange systems.
- To disseminate its publications among the main national and international distributors.
